ETC works with Montessorians Restore following Hurricane Harvey

Hurricane Harvey has come and left, however, the devastation it left behind will continue to linger for months. Many of the Montessori families are in need of assistance. For this reason ETC Montessori has partnered with a number of local schools to provide assistance to displaced Montessori families.

To begin with, thank you to all our customers, distributors, partners, and colleagues who contacted us after Hurricane Harvey, and for your heartfelt concerns and offers of help. While each and every one of us at the office knows someone who is personally affected, we are all heartened by the global outpouring of concern.

Now, as the rescue phase comes to an end, we move on to the rebuilding period. Many of you have asked how you can personally help with donations to assist the many Montessori schools in southeast Texas. If you wish to make a personal donation to a school, the following link will assist you.

AMS (earmark as Rebuild Your School)

However, I also know that there are many schools and classrooms around the country that are looking for other ways to help. We have learned that the most immediate donation is a gift card, of any denomination. They are compact, easy to ship, and 100% of the face value goes to the recipient.

Since we are based in Houston, ETC Montessori has many, many contacts with public, private, and charter schools in the area. We know that these Heads of School and parent organizations know first-hand the needs of their families, faculty, and staff. We are partnering with key Montessori schools in the area for distribution to those families who need assistance, based on the funds raised and degree of need.

If you wish to have your classrooms or school participate in helping fellow Montessori teachers and students rebuild, you can help by sending gift cards for Walmart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot, Visa, or MasterCard in ANY denomination to the ETC Montessori main office at

We would also love to see and read how your class raised the funds, who participated, and why you took on this project. We can then share these with our key Montessori schools to provide links to Montessori classrooms all over the country. We know that the emotional toll will continue far after the houses have been stripped of wet carpet, and clothes have been replaced. Building connections between classrooms is a step in providing the emotional safety that will help our children.
